Day 3-5, Kiev

October 18, 2012

Day 3, 15.7, Kiev

Finally I arrived in Kiev! Ok, one day later than expected, but whatever. My first goal was to get some money.

I never thought, that there would be cash-machines without any money. But the bad luck still seemed to follow me, so I was told by the cash-machine’s display “Sorry pal, I’m broke”. I felt to be tricked. Of course I found another one and entered the deep Metro to my host’s place.

She lives in a cosy designed little apartment, where I relaxed a bit before we went for a walk.

We made a 6h tour from Maydan Nezalezhnosti – the central square – to the Presidential palace, the Friendship National Monument and the island in Dnipr river.

We ended the day with some forbidden beers in a nearby park.

Day 4, 16.7, Kiev/Chernobyl

Time for the first adventure: Zombie hunting in Chernobyl.

Day 5, 17.7, Kiev, Kiev-Minsk

I just went to Lavra, which is like an open-air area with many churches. To get there, I took the metro till Arsenalna, the deepest station in Kiev: It took me 4 minutes and 10 seconds from the platform to the exit.

In the evening said goodbye to my nice host A. at the station, where I took the sleeper train to Minsk.

In the train I met Katya, who is studying in Cologne and visiting her family in Gomel. So we talked till she had to get out and I didn’t get much sleep again.
